David Whitfield, 68, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born March 12, 1958, David was known for his warmth, his quick wit, and his devotion to the people he loved.
A lifelong Minnesotan, David spent more than three decades as a high school teacher and baseball coach, mentoring generations of students who remembered him as patient, funny, and endlessly encouraging. He loved early mornings on the lake, a strong cup of coffee, and Sunday dinners with a full table.
David is survived by his wife of forty years, his two children and their spouses, and five grandchildren who were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother.
A celebration of David's life will be held at the Everfare Direct Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local youth sports program in his memory. The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this time.
