Obituary
Sharon Julie (Erickson) Welter, age 88, died peacefully on August 30, 2026 at Norris Square Senior Living in Cottage Grove, MN.
Sharon was born on February 17,1938 in Hanska, MN to Victor and Orpha Erickson and grew up in New Ulm, Minnesota. She married James Harold Welter in 1955. Together they had 5 children and lived in Sleepy Eye, MN, Aberdeen, SD, St. Cloud. and Owatonna before settling in Hastings, MN.
Sharon enjoyed learning and studied nursing at Inver Hills Community College. She worked caring for others at Haven Homes in Hastings, and later on as a health unit coordinator at University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics. She took great pride in her Norwegian heritage and was a member of the Sons of Norway. During retirement she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, reading, and travel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Erickson and Orpha Bright; prior husband James; daughter Sheila; sisters Sheila and Sara, and daughter-in-law Roxanne.
She is survived by her children Tim, Kara (Bud), Saundra (Rick), and Chris; grandchildren Ariel, Grace, Christine, Ann, Jeff, James and Krisann; 12 great grandchildren; and sisters Linda and Kim.
A memorial will be planned for family at a later date.
